We were in desperate need for some quick shelters this summer. We were looking for used sheds and what not on marketplace and online with no luck, because everyone wants a few thousand dollars for their used broken down sheds! So we were fortunate enough to find someone locally who was giving away these ibc tote tanks for free! They previously had chemicals in them but hey what can’t a little elbow grease and dawn dish soap clean! So we were able to get 8 of these in my 3 horse stock trailer. We got them home and started working. First we took the Sawzall and cut out a large hole. The goats and lambs needed a bigger opening than the chickens. So got all the holes cut out you online need one. Then when it came to washing out the chemical I do suggest not doing it in the lawn just because we weren’t sure what kind of chemicals were in there and I didn’t want to kill the lawn! So we get to cleaning first rinse in out really good then add the dish soap and degreaser if you have some. Climb on inside the tank or get yourself one of those car scrubby brushes! Put your back into it a little. Then rinse out all the soap and let them air dry! We have them in all our little critter pens right now. We just bed them down with some straw or pine shavings, whatever you have handy. If they are in a open area with alot of wind, you might want to put a large rock inside or on top. You could also very easily stake them down with a chuck of iron or rebar. I hope this helps someone get a quick shelter for their little critters!
